Bennet to be a presidential escort at State of the Union address

Sen. MIchael Bennet is among the VIPs Tuesday night to escort President Barack Obama into the House chamber at the U.S. Capitol ahead of the State of the Union address.

WASHINGTON ? Sen. Michael Bennet is on the escort committee to bring President Barack Obama to the House chamber Tuesday night to deliver the State of the Union address.

Those members of Congress on the ?escort committee? were selected by GOP House Speaker John Boehner and vice President Joe Biden.

Bennet is chair of the Democratic Congessional Campaign Committee and is in his first term for Colorado. He was appointed to the seat in 2009 and then elected in 2010.

Bennet?s staffers said Monday night he?ll escort President Obama into the House chamber Monday and then Bennet will try to find a seat with the rest of the Colorado delegation, which loosely plans to sit together at the event.
